When we arrive in this world as a newborn, we are essentially defenseless and vulnerable. Over time and in response to our life experiences, we develop behaviors and parts of our personality (masks) that protect our vulnerability and keep us feeling safe. Above, all, we are a survival machine!

The link to the article below discusses some of the better known ‘masks’ that we live behind in order to maintain that sense of safety and compatibility with our outer world.  We can present in the world as a ‘pleaser’, ‘clown’, ‘calm’ and even ‘bully’ all grow in each of us as a result of our environment and how we choose to feel that we are safe in our particular world.

Enjoy the read and take the time to consider your “go to” masks. How do you operate in your life to stay safe?  What might you be sacrificing in terms of relationships with others in living behind these masks?

In working to set aside the masks that block your ability to interact authentically with others, Breathwork can be one of the most powerful approaches to healing.  It can bring your inner and outer selves into congruity!

Breathe into your future wellbeing !
