VULNERABILITY
is not a weakness, a passing indisposition, or something we can arrange to do without, vulnerability is not a choice, vulnerability is the underlying, ever present and abiding under-current of our natural state. To run from vulnerability is to run from the essence of our nature, the attempt to be invulnerable is the vain attempt to become something we are not and most especially, to close off our understanding of the grief of others. More seriously, in refusing our vulnerability we refuse to ask for the help needed at every turn of our existence and immobilize the essential, tidal and conversational foundations of our identity. ~ David Whyte
Accessing feelings can be a difficult process if the tools and willingness to do so are not present. It takes willingness to step through vulnerability and it needs the guidance of your inner wisdom to break through the blocks and obstacles you have built to defend your safety and protect your vulnerability your whole life.
Below is a succinct post from author Mark Nepo who suggests that facing our feelings is the only way we get to live manageably, harmoniously and honestly – as he suggests, hiding is not an option!
One of the most potent support systems for tracking through all the noise and struggle of our feelings and instincts to hide our vulnerability is the process of Breathwork. This loving and authentic technique uses the breath to hold your hand and walk with you along the path of your avoidance. It gives you the permission to find a way to live in harmony with all you feel, all you have experienced and love yourself through it all.
Love your breath – Love yourself!
Be well
